A Sweet and Simple “Oh Two-dles” Birthday Party for Noah Grace
Some birthday parties are memorable because they are big, elaborate, and filled with over-the-top details. Others stay with you because they feel completely true to the child and family being celebrated.
Noah Grace’s second birthday was the second kind.
Her mom, Sasha, is one of my best friends, and one of the things I love most about her is that she is not a showy person. She wants celebrations to feel thoughtful and memorable, but she also keeps them simple, comfortable, and centered around the people she loves. Sasha is the type of person who can look around and say "That's enough" and can walk away. I envy that about her, because I can't ever stop. I value our friendship so much, because we are so different, but also very similar. We just even each other out. These are the friendships that last a lifetime, and I know how lucky I am to have her. This is why celebrating our kids' birthdays together is so special for me.
Noah Grace’s pastel “Oh Two-dles” second birthday party was such a perfect reflection of that. It was sweet, playful, and filled with those wonderfully chaotic little moments that make a toddler birthday party so much fun.
A Girly “Oh Two-dles” Birthday Theme
At the time of her second birthday, Noah Grace was completely obsessed with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. According to her parents, she would not allow them to put anything else on the television.
Naturally, there really was no other birthday theme option.
We turned the familiar phrase “Oh Toodles” into “Oh Two-dles” for her second birthday and gave the clubhouse theme a soft, girly twist. We leaned heavily into Minnie and Daisy throughout the designs and decorations, using a pastel rainbow color palette filled with pink, lavender, pale blue, mint, peach, and yellow.
The result was colorful and playful without feeling too loud or overwhelming. It felt sweet, simple, and very true to Sasha’s style.
Most importantly, it fit Noah Grace.
She is a spunky, strong-willed, and incredibly smart little girl. She has the sweetest curls and a smile that completely melts me. The playful Minnie-and-Daisy details felt like such a fun match for her big personality.
Creating Noah Grace’s Invitation and Welcome Sign
I had the honor of creating Noah Grace’s birthday invitation and matching welcome sign for the party.
The invitation featured soft pink-and-white stripes, scattered daisies, and a playful, fashion-forward Minnie-and-Daisy design. The soft blue, pink, mint, and yellow accents tied beautifully into the pastel decorations Sasha chose for the party.
It felt girly, fun, and full of personality—just like Noah Grace.
The coordinating welcome sign carried the same soft color palette and welcomed guests to Noah Grace’s Clubhouse. It was a simple way to make the party feel coordinated from the moment everyone arrived, without requiring a huge amount of extra decorating.
I always love getting to create invitations and party signage for my friends’ children. These designs become more than products to me. I know the child being celebrated, the personality behind the theme, and the families who will keep the photos and memories long after the party is over.

Our First Balloon Arch Lesson
One of my favorite parts of the party happened before the celebration even began.
This was Sasha’s first time making a balloon arch, so the night before the party, I went over to help her put everything together. We started by blowing up balloons—and by the time we were finished, her entire garage was full of them.
Sasha and I always end up in a laughing fit when we are together, and this setup night was no exception.
Somewhere in the middle of working through our mountain of pastel balloons, we realized that she had forgotten to buy anything to actually assemble the arch.
Apparently, we had both assumed the balloons were just going to magically stick together.
We ended up making a last-minute Walmart trip for supplies and, naturally, finished the outing with a stop at Sonic for drinks.
Once we finally had everything we needed, Sasha caught on incredibly quickly. She is naturally crafty, so I really should not have been surprised. Together, we created a pastel balloon garland to frame a rainbow streamer backdrop, then added a large pink number two beside it.
It made the sweetest photo area inside the house.
Sasha even had balloons left over and created a few more small balloon arrangements after I left. For someone making her first balloon arch, she did such a great job. She was an instant pro.
My honest beginner balloon-arch advice is simple: blow up your balloons ahead of time, buy your assembly supplies before the night of the party, and never assume the balloons will magically attach themselves.
A Party Made for the Girls to Actually Enjoy
The party was held at Sasha and Danny’s house, and we set up my white bounce house in their front yard.
Large, colorful “Happy Birthday” letters welcomed everyone outside, and the bounce house quickly became one of the biggest hits of the day.
All the girls wore simple, comfortable play clothes with some kind of Minnie or Mickey detail. Nothing was too formal or fussy. They were dressed to run, jump, play, and enjoy themselves—which they absolutely did.
The girls spent so much time together in the bounce house. There was no worrying about keeping outfits perfectly clean or asking them to stay away from decorations. They were free to be little kids and enjoy the party that had been created for them.
That is one of the things I love most about Sasha’s approach to hosting. She creates something special, but she never loses sight of who the celebration is actually for.
The decorations were lovely, but the children were still allowed to play. And they played HARD.
The Gift-Bag Favorite Nobody Could Put Down
Sasha also made adorable little gift bags for the kids.
I cannot remember every item that she included, but I definitely remember the bouncy balls because those girls played with them so hard.
It is always funny how you can spend time planning decorations, favors, and activities, and then one simple little toy becomes the highlight of the day.
The bouncy balls were such a hit, and watching the girls chase them around and play together was another reminder that children usually love the simplest things most.
A Classic Birthday Cake
The birthday cake was a sheet cake from Publix with a Minnie Mouse appliqué on top.
It was simple, cute, easy to serve, and completely appropriate for a house full of toddlers.
Not every birthday party needs a towering custom cake or an elaborate dessert display. Sometimes the best choice is the one that tastes good, feeds everyone, matches the theme, and does not add another stressful project to the host’s list.
That thoughtful simplicity is one of the things I admire most about Sasha. She knows how to make a day feel special without making it complicated just for the sake of appearances.
The Sweetest Gift From Dad
One of my favorite memories from the entire day happened while Noah Grace was opening her gifts.
Her dad, Danny, had a guitar made for her that matched his own.
Danny is a local musician, which made the gift feel incredibly personal. It was not simply another toy for her to open. It represented something he loves and something he may one day get to share with his little girl.
You could tell how much the gesture meant to him, and I loved getting to witness it.
It was such a sweet reminder that the most meaningful parts of a birthday party are rarely the decorations. They are the moments that tell a child, “We see you, we know you, and we love getting to celebrate who you are becoming.”
Noah Grace may not fully understand the meaning behind that matching guitar yet, but I have a feeling it will become one of those gifts that means more and more as she gets older.
The Best Girl Dads
Another favorite moment happened in front of the photo backdrop.
Our husbands put on Minnie Mouse ears and posed together for pictures. There was no hesitation and no attempt to look cool. They fully committed to the ears, the smiles, and the poses.
The pictures are some of my favorites from the entire day.
They are the best girl dads.
Those silly photos captured the feeling of the party perfectly. It was relaxed, joyful, and filled with people who were willing to be playful for the little girls they love.
The moms took photos together, the dads wore Minnie ears, and the children ran around in comfortable clothes eating cake, jumping in the bounce house, and chasing bouncy balls.
It was not staged or overly polished.
It was just happy.
Friendship After Motherhood
Sasha and I became friends after we became mothers, and I am incredibly thankful for the friendship we have built.
There is something so special about having friends to move through motherhood with—friends who understand the chaos, celebrate your children’s milestones, help fill a garage with balloons, make emergency Walmart trips, and laugh with you until your stomach hurts.
One of my favorite things about this season of life has been helping my friends set up their children’s birthday parties.
Every mom approaches parties differently. We work with different homes, budgets, personalities, and ideas of what makes a celebration special. Some moms love an elaborate setup. Others prefer a few meaningful details and plenty of room for the children to play.
And somehow, each party ends up feeling exactly right for the child being celebrated.
Noah Grace’s party was not about trying to impress anyone. It was about creating a sweet day for a little girl who loved Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, giving the children room to play, and gathering the people who love her most.
That is what made it beautiful.
