Hi! I’m Katie — Nashville-based mama, charcuterie enthusiast, former marketing exec, and the creator behind The Ellison Edit.

I’m also the proud mom of Riley Jean, my sweet, wild-hearted 19-month-old who keeps me on my toes and makes everything a little brighter (and louder). If my friends had to describe me, they'd probably say I’m dependable, bubbly, and the girl who always shows up with a killer cheese board and a plan.

✨ From Layoff to Lightbulb Moment

In January 2025, I was laid off from my senior marketing role — and what followed was a blur of job applications, almost-interviews, and lots of waiting. I was exhausted, emotionally drained, and craving a sense of purpose. I needed a project. Something creative. Something that reminded me I was still me.

I first thought about starting a party planning business (I’ve always had a love for hosting and over-the-top themes), but my husband gently reminded me that I wouldn’t love giving up nights and weekends with Riley. He was totally right — and that’s when everything shifted.

One day, my best friend asked me to design her daughter’s birthday invitation. I’d done her wedding signage, past party decor, and honestly, I'd helped so many friends over the years with all things party. But this time, something clicked. I realized I didn’t have to choose between motherhood and creativity — I could build something that fit both.

🎉 And Just Like That… The Ellison Edit Was Born

The Ellison Edit is my creative outlet and my way to help busy parents plan memorable, meaningful celebrations without the overwhelm. I design themed digital printables — from invitations and signs to full-on party planning guides — so you can throw Pinterest-worthy parties with less stress and more fun.

My vision? To take the thought work out of party planning. I want you to have everything you need in one place: what to buy, what food to serve, what to budget — all tailored to your theme and your life. Because you can throw a champagne-level party on a beer budget. I’ve been doing it for years.

🧁 Real Life, Real Moments

Now, I’ll be honest — not everything about party planning is glitter and confetti. I’ve got a little OCD, a touch of anxiety, and let’s just say I really need guests to RSVP. I actually had a mini meltdown at my daughter’s first birthday when the cupcakes were dropped, the food order was wrong, and everyone was afraid to tell me. (Don’t worry — I cried it out, rallied, and pulled it together. It was still magical.)

That first birthday party meant so much more than balloons and cake — it was a celebration of our first year as parents. The theme was Happiest Birthday on Earth, a pastel, Disney-inspired dream with more balloons than I care to inflate again. And even though Riley won’t remember it, I always will.
